Upland Pipeline Skatepark micro reunion |

Upland skatepark locals Carla (our own Misty Mate) and Louis (spelling might be Lewis) met for the first time in over 20 years at Montclair Skatepark. Carla (back into skating for 6 months after a 20+ year hiatus) or so and Louis (back just 2 weeks after a 20+ year hiatus) started talking about the "1980's Skatepark" time period and soon found out that they actually skated together back in the day. It was cool to hear them talk about all the people they hung with and the things they did back then. Remember they were just little kids when they skated Upland together. Even more of a trip is the stoke Louis is getting from his second time around on a skateboard. He said he was curious about skating so he went and picked up a board and came to the park. He has been at it every day since. He says he has skate brain and thinks about all the tricks he wants to get back all day long at work. He said skateboarding sort of makes the bad stuff go away. Yeah then I got something in my eye.
If you are reading this and you used to skateboard back in the 70's or 80's . And you decide you are fit enough to ride again (or like me need to get fit) you might find more than you think on a skateboard at a skatepark. If you already "found more than you thought" but you are fading back into the "Lazy Boy" again -just remember it's still out there if you want it.
AMEN TO ALL THE
AMEN TO ALL THE ABOVE!!!
Yesterday was a stoking day in sooo many ways! It was very cool reuniting with Louis~ the great thing about it too is I always wondered what happenend to him and all of his "agro" skater klan~him and his friends where very encouraging to me back then. What do you know 22 yrs. later! Louis was one of the younger "agro" skaters and was a'lil ripper! Louis if you've got to hit this great site
~it'll all come back and you'll be rippin' it up in no time~and having a blast with it!~ Thankyou Ken~ you're the best!
I love the photos and
I love the photos and hearing about the old school rippers getting back into it. Skateboarding is definitely a lifestyle and it has changed my life. Skateboarding is always on my brain. All of you old time skaters are very inspiring to me. For all you over 40 year old people out there, keep ripping and pushing the limits. The reunion story makes me want to reunite with my "homies" from the 70's, unfortunately my "homies" have moved away from it. Remember your roots. Skateboarding has changed over the years and has progressively advanced to levels we never imagined. Dudes like TonyAlva, Stacey Peralta, Jay Adams, Eric Driessen,Jason Jessee, Shogo Kubo, and many more need to be thanked for the contributions to skateboarding. For all you old schoolers out there, spread the word "skate or die".
Who is skating tomorrow and

Carla, I'm glad you guys had a good time at Montclair and Upland. Unfortunately, I have been skating locally lately (Brea and Whittier)...Duarte is cool, but kind of a far drive. I like that unusually shaped bowl....I skated Etnies last Sunday for the first time in 2 years (love the skull bowl)...
